CMS Solutions

At Mammoth Media we're experts in managing content on the web.

In 2006 our team started building BigPond Music, one of Australia's largest online music stores. Today, we continue to work with Telstra and manage over 2 million songs (2,388,744 at last count!), as well as accompanying metadata.

Our team used thePlatform and developed caching and management technologies to streamline the BigPond Music experience.

You can be confident we have the experience to solve just about any content management issue, and have the knowledge and ability to resolve them quickly.

In managing all this web content, we’ve had exposure to numerous web content management systems (WCMS). A WCMS is a software system that provides website authoring, collaboration, and administration tools designed to allow you to get on with the job of managing your website content without having to worry about HTML, CSS, ASP or any other acronyms that have nothing to do with your line of business.

Mammoth Media can provide expertise in any of the following WCMS solutions, catering specifically to your requirements, expected traffic and the goals of your website.

small to medium solutions

WordPress

WordPress is first and foremost known as a blogging platform, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t be used for other things as well. The development of WordPress has been such that the necessary functionality for the basic administration of websites is already there. We know this, because we've used WordPress as a CMS for a number of clients, and of course, we know the web.

We know WordPress, and know it is much easier to use out of the box for people not familiar with the concept of the web and information management. Add a solid support for static content, being the WordPress Pages, and more active update flows controlled by the Posts, and you’ve got your needs pretty much covered for most small business websites today.

Umbraco

Umbraco is an open source CMS based on the .NET platform. Being open source, it's free to use, and being based on the Microsoft .NET platform, is using the most widely accepted enterprise development language today, giving you the best of both worlds. It is in use on over 90,000 sites around the world, and therefore has the community and support required for peace of mind.

We recommend Umbraco as the next step from WordPress, particularly if you're aiming to grow your online presence dramatically, or have plans to expand the functionality beyond the standard static + blog website. The content management in Umbraco is more sophisticated, giving you greater flexibility in how you manage and categorise your data, as well as integrating with Microsoft Word for publishing, making frequent updates seamless for your staff.

Because Umbraco is open source, we are also free to modify the code to suit your needs more closely than a closed out of the box solution.

  • Easy website administration
  • Open source architecture
  • Skinnable and modular design
  • Well established software
  • Easy to integrate
  • Fully customizable

large to enterprise solutions

Sitecore

In our opinion, Sitecore is the one of the best enterprise WCMS solutions available today. In fact, we like it so much we went to the effort of creating our own website using Sitecore!

Sitecore started just like every other WCMS, focussing on effective and flexible content editing and management, and it does this better than most. However, what excites us about Sitecore is what they call the Customer Engagement Platform (CEP).

The key to the success of any organization is knowing what works and what doesn’t to improve your bottom line. With your web, email, social, mobile and other channels operating in siloes, how can you measure them against each other and implement cohesive marketing strategies?

Sitecore’s Customer Engagement Platform provides an elegant, integrated solution that connects channels, engagement automation, and engagement analytics, with external tools and databases.

All of this is combined with a powerful .NET based WCMS the Customer Engagement Platform offers:

  • Microsoft Office-like editing capabilities and an intuitive interface that users of all skill levels will love
  • In-depth analytics that measure campaign success, site traffic and visitor behavior down to the individual level
  • Engagement automation to communicate with customers across all channels and maximize efficiency of moving prospects through the sales funnel
  • Profile and persona scoring to design a personalized user experience that will have visitors coming back for more

custom requirements

We have extensive experience in developing custom CMS solutions as well, whether this be an entire CMS from scratch for a very specific need, or extending existing WCMS solutions, we’ve been there and done that.

Triumph

The WCMS that drives our AusGamers site, called Triumph, was entirely developed by us from the ground up in PHP. In the late 90s, at the time that AusGamers was created, there weren’t many WCMS solutions that could do what we were looking for, so we wrote it ourselves!

This WCMS has been used by other organisations to run their gaming portals as well, including BigPond Games and Games Xtra in New Zealand.

BigPond Money and Kentico

Kentico is the .NET WCMS used on the BigPond Money site, and has been heavily customised by us for specific layout and advertising requirements. We can do the same for many other WCMS solutions, just ask.
